1. What would you tell a friend or loved one who suspected that she might have an STD but was afraid to get tested?
If a friend/ family member came out to me stating that she/he has and STD and was afraid to get tested i would encourage that person to get tested and inform them of the importance of knowing. A lot of time STD's can remain undetected and if left untreated it can be crucial for some. STD's like chlamydia and gonorrhea can damage a woman's sexual reproductive organs preventing them from carrying and giving birth to children, and then there is the spread of STD's.......is this worth it I ask. Also I would let my friend/ family member know the importance of using protection so situations like this wont come about. I've never had to give advice on something like this before so if in the future I did I would share this advice.

Blog 2

I am a mother and this is a controversial topic especially when its dealing with your  own children. I currently have one daughter Melody  who is seven months old and even though shes way too young for the talk the time will somehow fly by so fast and before you know it I'm sitting down having "the talk" with her.

When she reaches that age and the time comes to have the talk I plan it be just her and me only. I plan on being in the comfort of our home where she feels relaxed. I will start off by informing her we are going to have a talk about the birds and the bees and where babies come from. From there I plan to have a sketch of our family tree and ask her do she know how our family got started. I'm a bit old fashion and I don't believe in diving right it, I'm going to explain to my daughter that when two people loves each other they start to feel really close. When their close there bodies know how much they love each other so a baby starts to form in the mothers tummy, from there after ten months parents go to the hospital and pick up their baby. I will then ask if she has anymore questions.

There is no way i could explain to her how she really got here, that's for whens shes much older and graduated high school lol but i do plan on being very involved and ask questions and letting her know that she can come to me and we can talk about anything on you mind.

For us parents out there my advice would be to all to become alert and prepared because one day its coming and there is no doubt about that we just need to be there foe our wondering children and support them.

Hope this helps!

Healthy Eating

I feel children is like monkey see, monkey do. When children see their parents choosing a more healthier approach in eating children will soon follow. When children start out at a very young age its easier in my opinion to get them to love and eat more veggies and fruits. I feel its time for the government to get involved with a healthier way of eating for the children. The first start needs to be at school, day cares etc since kids spend most their day there anyhow. For parents out there, I'm one of them and I would suggest buying healthier snacks from the store and also eating the healthy snacks along with kids. Kids want to do everything like their parents and what could be more than encouraging and promoting healthy eating.

Hello everyone,
My name is Monique, I’m 24 years old. I chose TWU because it was local and close to home. This is my second year at Texas Women’s University I changed majors so many times it’s hard to believe I‘m actually sticking with one and have been for a while now. My major is dental hygiene and I can’t wait to get into the field once graduated. My goals for the future is to become successful and to continue being a wonderful mom to my six month old daughter named Melody. Since becoming a new mom 6 short months ago I really don’t have time for anything else other than being a mom so I guess it’s safe to say my hobby is my daughter and I would not change that.
Before becoming a mother I really enjoyed housework. I’m a very neat and tidy person who can’t stand clutter and mess everywhere. In doing so I would clean, wash clothes, house duties all while listening to the radio and to me that was my fun. I’m a very busy person seeing that I’m a full time employee, full time student, full time mother and full time wife. I feel I am faced with all the challenges because I know I can do it. Believe it or not with all that’s going on in my life I still have some time for me. My expectations for this course would be to understand how the natural systems work and as humans how are we or aren’t we affected by the natural systems.
